The B5Media network:

A SeaMonkey rescue

At the beginning of April I got my daughter SeaMonkeys for her brother’s birthday.  I hadn’t ever had SeaMonkeys before, but remember the cool ads in my comics of days gone by.

So, things have been going well for the past month.  Lot’s of monkeys (yes, I know they are brine shrimp), even breeding and babies.  Rock on!  Until this morning.

The container was on a shelf (the only South facing one that gets good sunlight) that is also frequented by the cats.  For the past couple weeks it’s been okay.  No serious problems.  Until this morning.  Said little brother from above wanted a better look.  He was looking at the container and moved it.  No, he didn’t drop it.  No he didn’t knock it off the shelf.  But, since he moved it closer to the edge, the next cat (Ben-Ben in fact) who came up there … well you can guess.

Crash.  Yelling.  Screaming.  Mess.  Well, seeing little monkeys squirming on the floor I got the tweezers from my pocket knife, refilled the container, and got a good half dozen of the little buggers back in the container.  I’m not sure about the long-term health of them.  But, we’ll have to see.  Might require a trip to the store for a replacement set of eggs.

Live and learn.  Such is science at home.

Update: By the evening all the SeaMonkeys had perished.  Looks like a trip to the store to get some new ones.
